The Girl-in-training
A tired morning, eyes that barely open.
Feet that drag, somewhat purposefully, somewhat sluggishly.
The hall is empty – her moment of peace to herself.
A coffee cup, cursed nectar of men.
Body that stirs, somewhat eagerly, somewhat unwillingly.
The hall fills gradually – her composure gathers.
A smiling face, lips curled of habit.
Voice that greets, somewhat cheerfully, somewhat mechanically.
The hall is full – her whispers fall on deaf ears.

I remember first watching this on a quiet evening on the television. It was late, the lights were dim, the house quiet, except for the hum of the air-conditioner from the bedroom where my dad was sleeping. I was seated on the couch, typing random thoughts on my laptop, the tele switched on a low volume to keep me company. Somehow, the soft music drifted into my ears, and gently lifted my head up, guiding my eyes to the screen.
I was enthralled. For the next hour or so, I watched, attention undivided. Raw emotion so powerful, attempted to be buried under the facade and lies of selfishness. A tale of memories that cannot be forgotten, feelings that cannot be shaken.

Mundanes

It’s been two months since I started work in the travel industry, and I finally had my first business trip this week. Funny how a non-traveller like me would end up in this industry, just like how a non-consumer of media like me ended up in mass communications.
Regardless, the trip was indeed an experience. And by trip, I meant the flight. I hardly had any time to enjoy my stay in Frankfurt. It was a quickie – touch down, check into hotel for the night, full day meeting the next morning, and the evening flight back. But but but, the flight itself was nothing short of magical! Seated in First Class for 12 hours to and 12 hours back, what more could a travel virgin ask for? I was spoilt!
